Laura Tiernan: EMBLASTUDIO

Inspiration and Themes

Norse myth tells how the god Odin and his brothers created the first woman: from the driftwood trunk of an elm tree they found on the seashore, giving her the breath of life, understanding, senses, human form, and her name: EMBLA.

I chose EMBLASTUDIO to represent my work because Nature so consistently inspires me in new and surprising ways. Creating is how I nurture my connection to its power. In particular the intricacies of botanical forms fascinate me. Discovering and exploring human interpretations of organic forms from diverse cultures and eras that both beautify and tell stories compels me to manifest my own expressions.

Themes: Nature, myth, mystery, dreams, surprise, puzzles and illusion.
